David Paul Morabito DDS

I am a graduate the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. I enjoy working with my hands, learning new things, and treating patients, however the most important aspect to me is providing the best patient focused care possible.

My desire to become a dentist began with the sound of beats on a conga drum during my first dental mission in Peru. It was the end of a 12 hour day of dentistry when a young boy challenged me to a drum off. As I looked upon the smile of a young boy, his smile became instantaneously contagious. The child invited me to play, we simultaneously tapped beats on his conga drum, playing back and forth.  Perhaps a hundred patients and all the mission team watched as the boy and I tapped along raising the energy. This dental mission would forever open my eyes to the lives of individuals in an underprivileged country. Many of those individuals lived on the streets in desolate conditions and slept on dirt floors. Most of the children only had a meal every few days. The locals were covered in dirt and appeared as if they did not bath in days. This profound experience caused me to realize that my life would become more than just dentistry, but would include missions like this, and must be used to transform the world into a better place.

My favorite quote I have read as I have progressed through my studies was written by a Chicago firefighter Dave Miller, "What is a Man's worth that doesn't make this world a better place." This quote speaks to my motivation more than any other, my mission is to make a difference by changing the lives of others whether it be relieving pain, transforming smiles, or inspiring others to serve those in need.
